And women have every right to go into space as men do. One of these great women is Valentina Tereshkova. She has made such a great stride for women in the history of the world. She was the first woman to go into orbit around our beautiful little planet. Before her, only men such as Yuri Gagarin have been into space. But Valentina Tereshkova set the new bar for women. She was picked to go into space and since then, she has made history. One of her successors was a parachutist from Moscow, Russia. This person was Svetlana Savitskaya.She became the second woman ever to go into orbit around the earth. She got picked as part of an all female astronaut team in Russia. While remaining as a cosmonaut, she served as a civilian engineer. This lady is another example of how women are very important to our society. These women and many more have set an example to the world. They have made women gain the confidence to not be afraid to follow their dreams because women are just as good as men, if not better.
